The Memento - Reading Circles

I've chosen this story because I think it was interesting, a bit funny and sad at the same time. But obviously I have learnt a lot about men.

This story was about an actress who has no future in the theatre world. She had a friend, actress too, that was very beautiful and young, and she had much success on stage because she appeared in a swing and she "flew" in the air and all men stood up because her yellow garter fell down and all of them wanted to catch it. She decided to left theatres because of men.
One day they met and her friend told her her story. She met a man and she fell in love, but he didn't know she was actress. She thought he was different to the other men, but he had a secret, he had a memento from another lover he had, and sometimes he looked at it to remembered her. She wanted to know  what was it, and she found it: it was a yellow garter of one of  her performances! Finally, he was like all men!

I can connect this story with our life, because there are men! I don't think all men are equal, but there are some of them that are like the man of the story and they can do what this man do, having a wife!

My favourite passage was: "Well, I saved two hundred dollars and when summer came, I left the theatre and went to a little village by the sea on Long Islands. I planned to stay there for the summer, and then learn how to be a better actress" It's something I would like to do, forget everything and stay along for a few time to think about life.

My favourite character is, obviously the actress Miss Rosalie Ray, because she is a free spirit and she do what she wants, and I admire that.

I have learnt new vocabulary like this words:
Garter: a band, usually of elastic, worn around the arm or leg to hold up a shirt sleeve, sock, or stocking.
Swing: to move or cause to move rhythmically to and fro, as a free-hanging object.

In my opinion, It's the best story in the book and I think Reading Circle was a funny experience and interesting too, because had to do different things and we learned about everything. We improved our English too, because we have to told us the things we had to do. I like this experience.

INTERNATIONAL FOOD

We were speaking about nutrition and healthy diets, and we had to do a project about international food.

We were speaking about the two different pyramids and comparing them.
We had to choose one country of the continent we had, I had Africa, so I chose Mali.
Then we had to look for the diet and the fact file, and then we exchanged the information in groups. In my group the countries were Canada, Germany, Thailand, New Caledonia, South Corea and Mali. We were talking about them and we had to choose one, and we chose Canada because it is a very interested country for us because it has the healthiest diet and we didn't know too much about the country.

We looked for typically dishes of Canada and we had to prepare a menu for the restaurant we had to open. We called it Canvalahiyo. We had to decide the starters, de mains, the desserts and the special one, that we had to cook after that. We decided to cook Tourtiére from Quebec, that is like a meat cake.
We had to do a powerpoint explaining why we chose Canada, its fact file, our menu, and the nutritional info of the Tourtiére.
We had to shoot how we cook it, explain how we did it, the ingredients we used, etc.
When the dish was cooking, we brought it to the class and we opened the restaurant there, Pablo and Álvaro were the waiters and Carmen Cohen and Julia Prats the customers.

The cooking experience was my favourite part, because we laughed a lot doing the dish, shooting it and speaking English all at the same time! Our video was inspired in a TV program called Master Chef that consist in a competition between two groups cooking a dish, and the best dish is the winner. The problem was that the video was very long, but it was very funny, because we were singing at the same time we cleaned the kitchen and we shot it. It was my favourite part. I think we are great chefs!

This project is very interesting because we learn how to work in groups, how to do a presentation, to improve our body language, English, and obviously our internal chef!
It was a very good experience, and we really enjoyed.

And here's our video, enjoy it!

/g/

We were playing a game in the garden. Suddenly, the gate opened. We went to see what happened. We were in another galaxy. I looked down and I saw that we were in a gulf. Then an alien came and he had got a gold guitar and he gave me it as a gift. I fell in love.

BELENES

There are different ways to assemble the Belén and we are going to see them.

In the Belén predominate the figures that represent normal people in a traditional life at the past and the messiah with the virgin Mery and Sait Joseph. There are some animals like ducks, cocks, rabbits, etc. This figures are normally made of clay and with lots of colours on their clothes, but there are some figures made of porcelain, that are white with some colours, but they're more simple that clay's figures.

In the Belén it's very typically to put sawdust in the floor to represent the grass and aluminium paper to imitate the river. For the sky, there are papers with starts that we put it in the wall. For the mountains there is a special paper brown and beige that we crumple and put it like a rock, or if we prefer trunks and moss. The houses and the Herodes's castle are usually made of cork and they are very simple.
Every person assemble the Belén to their liking, normally it's depends on the person who put it, because it's not the same a Belén in a house that a Belén in a shop. In the houses, all the familly mount the Belén together. The childrens always want to put all the figures where they want, and they like it a lot. In the shops, there is one o two people responsible to assemble the Belén in the shop window.

Belenes are a Spanish tradition and I think it's very interesting and nice, and it's appropriate for the date because we have to help us and work together.

ME, MYSELF AND I

Yellow is my favourite colour because it defines me very well. This colour represents happiness.

I'm a cheerful girl, because most of the time I'm smiling and laughing and I like it. I'm affectionate with “my people” because I love them a lot. I like to express my feelings to others. I'm very presumed and all the time I want to be perfect, it's something I can't avoid. I have to admit that I'm a bit proud, and is difficult for me ask for forgiveness, but I try.
I think that people only know this part of me. When I have to be serious, I'm serious, but I'm always laughing, so people don't know this important part.

In my life, there are people who I love so much, because they are important for me. My family is the most important people in my life, because they look after me and support me when I need it. We share great times together because we are 17 cousins and I've got 15 aunts and uncles.
My friends, my “Ases” What I can say about them. They're very very important for me, because I have shared with them all, and they're my support.
The music is very important in my life too, and my idols are the boys of One Direction. They make me smile every day, and I hope to meet them someday... I love them.

I'm Seville and I love the Seville Fair. I enjoy on it a lot, and I would not lose any year. What I like is to get the flamenco dress and dance in the “albero”, but it would not be the same without my friends and family because they give the meaning to the party.

That's me, and family and friends are a very important part of me.

MAKING A SCARY MOVIE

We had to do a scary movie for an English project and it was a very funny experience even we had some problems.

We invented the script and we shot it with the camera. And now we are going to submit our films in a scary film festival and there are some winners...

Making the film was difficult but at the same time we enjoyed a lot. Performing was the big problem I think, because all the time there was a person who laugh or who changed the dialogue: for example we had to shoot a scene like 20 times but finally we shot it and we were very satisfied. Another problem in this scene was that we were in the street and when a car passed we couldn't hear nothing in the video, and we lost time to shoot another scene.

We looked for colloquial expressions to say because it would be more natural. We found some sentences that were very funny and interested and they helped us a lot.

I think that making the film was very good for us because we learned to be more confident in front of a camera, to work in group and to speak English fluently.
We enjoyed and laughed a lot.
